A simple Thanks

Yes a simple thanks can do wonders. I have always believed that I am capable of doing many/all things, but have always found the motivation lacking. But when someone one, out of the blue, appreciates the work you did out of free will, then it makes a difference. It makes your Day.

Since last week, when I published RSS feeds and made the email notification service available for TnP notices about 175 people have subscribed to Email notifications and about 30 people are using Twitter to follow. But the good part is: 3 people have mailed me expressing thanks.

Person 1: I am quite late in saying this. Thanks a lot. This has been a great help

Person 2: I love you for the tnp service you have provided…puchhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiessssssss

Person 3: I visited the site for the TnP notices feed. Its so nice of you to make such an arrangement. Btw, the idea of using twitter is really cool.

 

Me on a new high… it feels good to be of use…. atleast to some.

What’s going on???

Ok so DP has now officially come to an end. From tomorrow there are classes again.

Actually this DP was the best of my 4 DP’s here in kgp. (Ya I missed it in the first year). I am now a proud owner of an intelligent crawler, which has been downloading 1000’s of pages from the morning… and will continue this download for atleast 2 more days….

ActuallyI have been on a nightout from the previous days and has been more than 36 hours since I last slept… well not actually true.. matlab soya tha beech mai 2 ghante but neend nahin aa rahi… and the thing to be noted is that this my second two day nightout this week . In the last one I had not slept for 42 hours… and the time I was awake.. I wrote a lot of code …. and then room saaf kiya tha… awesome ho gaya yaar ab room… will post pics next time around….

And ek aur baat, mene subah 8 baje breaker kiya tha… and uske baad kuchhn khaya bhi nahin hai… abe yaar kya ho gaya hai mujhe… na bhook lag rahi hai… na neend aa rahi hai…  bas khush hoon aaj mai… code chal raha hai….. lagta hai khisak gaya hai mera…

Yaar pata hai DP khatam nahin honi chaiye thhi… ab saala class jana padega kal se… faaltu sab kuchh… kuchh fayda nahin class vlass kar ke….

Accha ek aur baat… pata hai mera dimag ek dum stagnant feel kar raha hai…. tu abhi usse chalane ke liye bahut loud music sunna pad raha hai… But  I am loving it… atleast doing  what I love and doing for some worthwhile purpose… this is all that matters.. baaki sab saali bas baatein hai….Vo Bryan uncle bolte hai na 18 till I die vaale gaane mai… “Its not how you look, but how you feel inside“, tu bas 18 till I die vaali feeling hai abhi mere andar…

Dukhi :(

Aaj main thoda dukhi types mood mai hoon…  Ab dukhi kyun hoon… yeh main nahin bata sakta. Bahut choti si kahani hai, but this kahani forms an important part of my life nowadays.

Vaise mera dukh pal dar pal badta ja raha hai… and lag raha hai ki bas kisi pal… phat jayega mera dil is dukh ke kaaran… dard hona tu shuru ho gaya hai….

Kaafi kaam kara hai aaj mene and laga diya hai finally sab crawl pe… kam se kam do din tu chalega crawl… ab finally mera peace marne ka time aaya tu yeh dukhi feeling aa gyai main mere saaf swach man mai….

Pata abhi subah ke 6 baj rahe hai… mera sone a bilkul man nahi kar raha… bas lag raha hai ki kucch bhi kar llon and so uoon na…

yaar aisa kyun hota hai life mai… man bahut bhari bhari ho jaata hai… lagta hai ki rona chahiye… but aasoon aake nahin dete saale…. aur pata hai aise time pe koi gam baatne ke liye bhi nahin milta…. vaise mai kiske saath baat sakta hoon isse.. ek ko chod ke aur koi nahin…

Koi baat nahin magar… aaj dukhi hai tu kya hua… baaki time tu mai generally khush rehta hoon… kabhi kabhi dukhi bhi hona chahiye… varna khushi ki importance chali jaati hai…

chalo jao ab… lemme enjoy my dukh… aur haan agar mai heart attack se mar gaya tu iska jimmedar bas IIT Kgp hoga…. yaad rakhna…

Ok its nothing much. Its just that I got an article published in Scholars’ Avenue. It is an introductory article about what is Web 2.0.

Okies it has so happened that TnP work in KGP is being done through a new TnP Website. All the notices are being posted on the website itself and one doesn’t need to go to TnP to check all the notices. Cool na. But what was uncool about the website that the notices section didn’t have RSS feed. Now how in the world can you make such a website in which the notices section doesn’t provide RSS feeds.

Since the Website has been made by a group of students, I told them to put feeds, but it seems they were busy in fixing other high priority bugs. So I decided, “Bahut ho gaya, Main bar bar site pe nahin ja sakta hoon notices check karne ke liye…. ab iske feeds create karne padenge…“.

Then a few lines of Perl code, some useful regular expressions, knowledge of how to write a Feed XML file and the presence of Arpit’s external domain made it possible. Now you can subscribe to the RSS feeds of TnP notices.

The feed is available at http://www.tnp.intinno.com/tp.xml. I don’t guarantee a 100% correct feed, but whenever you find a bug, please let me know. Also since TnP site is visible from outside Kgp, I don’t think making Feeds public violates any rules. Also right now the feed content only contains the link to the notice, as I didn’t have the tempo to parse the whole notice.

And to subscribe to this RSS feed you will need an aggregator. This can be Google Reader, your google homepage, or you could add this feed on your Orkut page by clicking on “add stuff” link on your homepage, or you could Bloglines. Since I don’t want the dependency of Web to read my feeds I use an desktop aggregator called Liferea(thats LInux FEed REAder).

 Note – Does anybody know how to track the number subscribers of this feed???
